Gillmore Music is run by Andrew Gill, a graduate of the University of Toronto, Faculty of Music (Theory), whose experience in small business and the music industry has helped establish one of the bright lights in an industry experiencing rapid evolution and revolution.
Andrew begain his life long love of music at a very early stage. Enrolled in piano lessons at the age of five and growing up as a member of Salvation Army brass bands, Andrew was destined to make a career in music.
After graduation at the University of Toronto, Andrew spent a number of years working at classical record shops and with distributors of classical music. It was through these experiences that he saw the opportunity and need in the market place for an additional distributor of classical labels.
At this relatively early stage, we hope to establish a network of associates and friends to encourage our success. It is a fine balance we walk as musicians, between ‘artistic integrity’ and ‘sound business practices’. This is the most challenging aspect facing the industry, the classical sector, and the arts.
Gillmore Music takes its name from Gillmore Classics established by Andrew's late father Major Stanley Gill. You may find out more about Gillmore Classics in the History section.
